Socrates Mining
Company is an old west trading company, which
means we buy and sell antiques, collectibles and other memorabilia related to
the American Old West. The “Old West”, however debatable,
being the period from the end of the Civil War, 1865, into the 1930’s and can
be into the 40’s & 50’s. Our motto is: “purveyors of the old
west” and our logo is the buffalo. Although we look for all quality items of
significance, the cowboy’s and cowgirl’s jewelry is what we seek most. That
is; horse tack and cowboy/girl gear that is silver mounted or decorated
beyond what one would call “ordinary”. To be more specific though, we are buyers
and sellers of quality desirable: spurs, chaps, cuffs, boots, hats, gun
leather, belts, buckles, headstalls, bits, antique firearms, and other
cowboy/girl items. Plus cavalry, rodeo, wild west show, express company,
gambling, saloon, gunfighter and fur trader items, as well as, art,
photographs, documents and furniture. We deal in some Native American Indian
Artifacts; however, that is a specialty field of its own. Even the early fur
trader’s items are sought by those who preserve the American Indian
heritage. Since ebay, many cowboy and old west
items have surfaced and are now in the hands of collectors, but in my many
years of experience, I have learned, there is more just around the corner. If you are a collector of the items I
